WordPress Reading Setting


In this lesson, we will discuss how we can configure WordPress Reading Setting. This setting is used to set which page will be your website homepage and which page will be your website blog page. You can also set posts visibility on the blog page. There are other options also available.

Following are the steps to access the Reading settings −

Step1 – Log in to the dashboard. and Click on Settings → Reading option in WordPress.

Step 2 − You will see The Reading Setting page like below screenshot.

Following are the details of setting page.

Your homepage displays -This is a very useful option, with this option you will decide that what page will be your website home page. If you want to set Blog page layout for home page then you can select Your latest posts radio button.

If you want to set any other page for homepage layout then you can select A static page (select below) radio button. Then you can set two pages one for a homepage and one page for your website blog page.

Blog pages show at most – You can set how much posts will be visible on the blog page. By default, it is 11.

Syndication feeds show the most recent − This option will show the number of most recent posts whenever you download one of the sites feeds. You can select how much recent posts will be visible. By default, it is 10.

For each article in a feed, show – Here you can set whether to show your complete post in a feed or it displays the only summary of the post.

Search Engine Visibility − You can set whether your website will be indexed or ignored by the search engine. By default it is unchecked. If you click on the checkbox your website will be ignored by the search engine.

Step3 − After filling any information about Reading settings, click on Save Changes button. It saves all your Reading settings.
